Pastoral Team
Woodland is a Community Primary School, which nurtures and promotes the importance of resilience in our pupils. The emotional/physical wellbeing and mental health of our pupils is at the forefront of everything we do. We offer a nurturing approach and believe building relationships with you and your child is key to offering the best support.
Our successful pastoral care programme means that your child feels safe, happy, involved and able to perform to their full potential.
Here at Woodland we pride ourselves on how we deliver this support. Whether it is help with behaviour management, transitions, signposting to other services, support with form filling or you just need someone to talk to, our door is always open.
Our Vision Statement for Wellbeing
“Mental health is a state of well-being in which every individual realises his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community.” (World Health Organisation)
The emotional health and wellbeing of Woodland's school community (including staff, parents and pupils) is fundamental to our ethos and values. We recognise how important emotional wellbeing is to our lives in just the same way physical health is.
In our school we believe that mental health is the responsibility of us all and we understand that anyone can suffer from mental health and wellbeing issues at some point in their life, Our school aims to support our community by implementing a range of strategies, pastoral support, signposting, referrals and an open ear. We also realise the role that stigma can play in preventing understanding and awareness of mental health issues. Therefore we aim to create an open and positive culture that encourages discussion and understanding of these issues, with sensitivity to individual needs.
Please feel free to contact any member of the team via the school office if you would like to discuss anything.
