‘Art is a place for children to learn to trust their ideas, themselves and to explore what is possible.’ Maryann F. Kohl

Teaching Art encourages children to develop their curiosity which will guide them to produce creative work at Woodland, as we strive to give every child the opportunity to do so. Across our school, the children’s art is displayed in various forms where they explore and observe the world around them thoroughly and carefully. We believe that art helps learners to develop creative problem-solving skills which include the development of motor skills, language skills, social skills, decision-making, risk-taking and inventiveness. These skills help children to develop a talent in drawing, painting, sculpting and other art, craft and design techniques which challenges them on different levels.

Our aim is to guide children to visit other worlds, cultures and time to understand and to explore the historical and cultural development on the work of various artists. By evaluating and analysing creative works using language of art, craft and design, we at Woodland endeavour their development of an understanding of the wider world.

Woodland Wonders Art Exhibition

The incredible effort from all the children in Woodland have just been astonishing! It was our third Woodland Wonders Art Exhibition and we couldn't be more proud of Woodland's artists with their hard work and determination..

Gallery Visits

What a great experience! Some of our children had the opportunity to visit an exhibition 'Of Time and Tide' from Anthony Radcliffe at Kirkby Art Gallery. They thoroughly enjoyed learning about him, his specific techniques, mediums that he has used as well as creating their own observational drawings from his original work.

Woodland were amazed by the incredible exhibition at Skelmersdale Library - Collaboration with Nature 'The Third Thing' by a local artist called Phil Barnett. They thoroughly enjoyed doing some observational drawings of his artwork and discussing how he has integrated himself with nature using a variety of mediums.
