Hello Year 1 Parents!
We have a wonderful team working here in Year1!
Miss Blackledge and Mrs Day are our lovely class teachers and they are lucky to be supported by the fantastic Mrs Reynolds and Miss Duxbury!
All of our staff are incredibly dedicated and will always be there to listen before and after school if ever you would like a chat!
This year will be full of new and exciting opportunities, activities and lessons for all the children. We aim to promote creativity and enthusiasm for learning and encourage all children to take part in the new challenges they will face in year 1.
If you have a child in Year 1, here are some things that you need to know:
Children can buy toast for 20p or bring their own healthy snack.
We will continue our weekly PE lessons this year, at the moment swimming lessons are on hold, but hopefully will start again later in the year.
Mrs Day's Class
Tuesday and Thursday
Miss Blackledge's Class
Monday and Wednesday
All children need to have their kits in school ready for each session.
Read Write Inc sessions take place every day at 9am, please do make sure that your child is in on time so that they do not miss this vital reading and writing lesson.
In June the children will be taking part in compulsory phonics screening quiz taken by all children in Year 1 nationally. The quiz consists of real words and 'Alien' words that the children need to decode using their phonics skills (Don’t panic, they will have had lots of practise!)
To keep you up to date with messages, photographs and videos, we use a great app called Seesaw, which you can download on your phone and receive notifications instantly about your child. You will receive a letter detailing how to access this at the beginning of the year so please set this up as soon as possible.
Please check back to our page regularly, as there will be lots of photographs for you to see!
We look forward to seeing every child blossom throughout year 1 and achieve their own personal goals and achievements which will be celebrated.
Thank you for your continued support.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to come for chat.
