We have a wonderful team working in our Woodland Reception. Mrs Lacey, Mrs Connolly and Mrs Zerillo are our lovely class teachers and they are lucky to be supported by the fantastic Mrs Millward and Miss Martin.
If you have a child in Reception, here are some things that you need to know:
Toast money is £1 per week and is collected on a Monday morning for the week ahead.
PE will take place every Friday morning and children need to have their kits in school ready for each session.
We are fortunate to have a wonderful outdoor area which we use every day rain or shine. Could you please ensure that your children are sent to school with appropriate footwear and warm clothing on our wet and windy days.
School lunches are free for our Reception children, however if you would prefer to send a packed lunch then this is fine also.
Book bags will be sent home every Monday containing two reading books with a reading record, and need to be brought back in to school every Friday. To make progress in reading, we recommend that you read with your child every day. When you have read, could you please write a short comment in their reading record to tell us how they managed with the books.
To keep you up to date with messages, photographs and videos, we use a great app called Seesaw, which you can download on your phone and receive notifications instantly about your child. You will receive a letter detailing how to access this at the beginning of the year so please set this up as soon as possible.
Could you ensure that school has a current completed data sheet and phone number for your child’s emergency contacts. Please inform the office as soon as possible if there are any changes to phone number, address or list of people who may be collecting your child.
Please check back to our page regularly, as there will be lots of photographs for you to see!
We are looking forward to a fun filled, exciting year with your little ones.
Thank you for your continued support.
Our new little ones have settled in nicely and have already made lots of friends. Stay tuned for some photographs!
This half term our theme is ‘Home Sweet Home’ and we will be talking about our own families as well as learning about similarities and differences between ourselves and others and what makes us special.
We will be also be settling in to our new routines and starting our vital Read, Write Ic. sessions (please see the Read, Write Inc page for more information).
During this half term we will be taking the children for a lovely Autumn walk around Acorn Wood to observe the seasonal changes to our environment.
